Do you agree with the call for a ban on fighting in hockey?

  • Definitely Agree. Not only does fighting potentially cause severe brain and head trauma, but it also has a negative effect on how children understand and learn about hockey, and real sportsmanship.
  • Possibly Agree. Using violence to resolve disputes is not right -- not in the school yard, not in a bar, and not in hockey. But I wonder if professional hockey will lose its appeal without the fights?
  • Unsure. I am not interested in hockey, with or without fighting. Either way, professional hockey players are grown men and are paid huge salaries, so the risk is theirs to take.
  • Possibly Disagree: There are known physical risks involved with the sport. However, bench clearing brawls, or entering a fight already in progress, should at least result in heavy penalties.
  • Definitely Disagree: Fighting is a key ingredient in the success and draw of the sport. It makes the game more exiting and interesting. It is part of the long tradition of hockey as we know it.
